President's Message

2011 President's Message:

Welcome to the West Linn Youth Football program. It is hard to believe another football season is just around the corner. First of all, I would like to thank the parents, community, sponsors, coaches and the WLYF board for their efforts in making such a successful season in 2010. The season was memorable in many ways, a bold new look for our players with new uniforms, the enthusiasm and growth of our cheerleading squads for a second year and a strong showing in post season playoff action. West Linn not only managed to take six teams to the playoffs in grades 5 through 8th grade in 2010, but all six teams completed perfect 10-0 seasons by capturing their respective championships. Most importantly, they did so with the poise and character that so proudly represents our community.

This is only possible due to the many great leaders dedicated to providing for our youth football players and cheerleaders. Along the sidelines are also great volunteers, coaches, team parents, concession workers, parents who drive their sons and daughters to practice, prepare late suppers, and give their sons and daughters emotional support. Take comfort in knowing your child is learning life social skills, a solid work ethic and love for the game of football in a safe and supportive environment.

The WLYF board strives in its mission to make our program about the kids. We want to cultivate an environment that everyone believes is very special, something people want to be part of as players, cheerleaders, volunteers, sponsors and fans. We are committed to providing an exceptional and rewarding experience for your sons and daughters. I challenge our student athletes to be strong role models by setting and achieving their goals in the classroom and in the community as well as on and off the field. Furthermore, I encourage our parents and community to get involved in our program for the 2011 season to continue to make this a successful program we can all enjoy and be proud of.

Registration for the 2011 season is scheduled to open on April 15th and will close on June 15th. We encourage you to register early to help our board forecast player count and plan accordingly. With summer activities and family vacations, August approaches quickly. Calendar activities leading up to practices and continuing through the post season are listed on our "Key Dates" page on our web site. If you are new to West Linn Youth Football, please see the Registration page for additional information. On behalf of the West Linn Youth Football board, we thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Todd MacClanathan
