President's Message

2013 President's Message:

Welcome to the West Linn Youth Football program. We are only a few short weeks away from kicking off the 2013 Season. Once again, I would like to thank the parents, community, sponsors, coaches and the WLYF board for their efforts in making 2012 the success it was. I would also like to thank retiring WLHS Head Coach Ron Chappell for his many years of support for our program and welcome new Head Coach Michael Fanger to the West Linn community.

The season was memorable in many ways, returning to the more traditional green and gold uniforms, a respectable showing in post season playoff action and continued growth of our cheerleading squads for a fourth year. West Linn once again took six teams to the playoffs in grades 5 through 8th in 2012 with four reaching the championship games and two finishing as division champions. Lion pride was evident as they did so with the poise and character we have all come to expect.

We never want to forget that this is only possible due to the many great leaders dedicated to our youth football players and cheerleaders. Along the sidelines are also great volunteers, coaches, team parents, concession workers, parents who drive their sons and daughters to practice, prepare late dinners, and give their sons and daughters emotional support. Our goal is to give your child the opportunity to learn life social skills, a solid work ethic and love for the game of football in a safe and supportive environment.

The WLYF board strives in its mission to make our program about the kids. We want to cultivate an environment that everyone believes is very special, something people want to be part of as players, cheerleaders, volunteers, sponsors and fans. We are committed to providing an exceptional and rewarding experience for your sons and daughters. I challenge our student athletes to be strong role models by setting and achieving their goals in the classroom and in the community as well as on and off the field. Furthermore, I encourage our parents and community to get involved in our program for the 2013 season to continue to make this a successful program we can all enjoy and be proud of.

We continue to update our website as new information becomes available. Please use this valuable resource to answer any questions you may have regarding the upcoming season. Calendar activities leading up to practices and continuing through the post season are listed on our "Key Dates" page on our web site. If you are new to West Linn Youth Football, please see the Registration page for additional information. On behalf of the West Linn Youth Football board, we thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Todd MacClanathan
