Welcome to the West Linn Youth Football Program. It is hard to believe we are only a few short days away from the start of the season. I would like to thank all the
parents, community, coaches and the WLYF Board for making the 2013 season a success. I would also like to welcome the new WLHS Head Coach Chris Miller to West Linn and our football
community. The addition of Chris to our has program created a great deal of excitement and I look forward to his leadership in the years to come.
2013 was a memorable year for our program. We had several of our teams qualify for the playoffs and saw all 3 of our ¾ teams experience a great deal of success during the
regular season and medal games. At all levels, our teams showed the poise and character you come to expect from a West Linn team. We look to build on the success we experienced in
2013 and carry that forward to the 2014 season. We are heading into the 2014 with 10 teams which is 1 additional team from the 2013 season. This is a reflection on the rich
tradition of our program and love of football in our community.
I am excited to announce the 2014 coaching staff will be taking additional training to help provide a fun and safe environment for the girls and boys of our program.
Through USA football, each coaching staff will be trained on topics that cover proper equipment fitting, concussion recognition and awareness, heat and hydration as well as proper
tackling techniques and fundamentals. These additional steps are indicative of our coaching staff's commitment to our program and ensuring they are staying up to date on the safest
way to provide a great experience for the young athletes in our program.
The WLYF board strives in its mission to make our program about the kids. We want to cultivate an environment that everyone believes is special, something people want to be
a part of as a player, cheerleader, volunteer, sponsor and fan. We are committed to providing a rewarding experience for your sons and daughters. We expect our student athletes to
be leaders in the community and role models in the classroom. I encourage our parents and community partners to get involved in our program for the 2014 season to continue to make
our program a success for years to come.
Finally, I want to thank Todd MacClanathan for his years of service to West Linn Youth Football. Todd has been a tremendous leader and a great mentor for me as I transition
into his role. It is men like Todd that built this program and laid the foundation for success in the years to come. Todd's love and passion for football is evident in the
tireless hours he has volunteered as a board member and coach.
